One Week to the Wedding

          Hey everyone! I finished "The Truth" and am going to take a few posts to give some book recommendations because I love reading just as much as I love writing, specifically love stories.
         If you love love stories, I definitely recommend reading One Week to the Wedding by Olivia Miles.

          This book is a about a girl named Kate who is planning her best friend Elizabeth and her fiancé William's wedding. She was also supposed to be getting married, but a major conflict occurs with her fiancé Jake, which you will have to read to find out. The conflict with them also causes a lot of drama between her and her sister, Charlotte. Charlotte messed up big time and she knows it, but she also has a huge secret. One that could either bring her and her sister back together or tear them apart even more. 

          While trying to plan the wedding as Elizabeth's maid of honor, she has to collaborate with the best man, Alec who is William's brother. She starts to develop small feelings, but is scared to admit to them for two reasons; she doesn't want to be hurt again and she can't fall in love with the best man's brother. He is a workaholic and could not care less about his own brother's wedding, which Kate does not find attractive at all. She feels that she is the one who always has to do all of the planning and figure everything out, yet somehow she still has feelings for him. 

         Throughout the book, Kate constantly tries to get Alec to care more about the wedding and less about his work. She sees little break throughs here and there, but they only last for a day or so. Things got so bad at one point, Kate didn't know if he was even going to show up to the wedding because he had a business meeting. Kate struggles to control how she feels as the wedding gets closer. She doesn't want to be the only one without a date, but she is scared to love again. Kate wants to tell Elizabeth everything she feels because she wants her best friend's help, but she is scared it will mess things up.                

          Alec feels the same way about Kate, but he is hesitant because a relationship will take time out of his working hours, which he cannot have. Alec and Kate go out a few times and they have a good time, but at the end of the day Alec realizes that he missed work for her and Kate realizes that she cannot be with someone who only cares about one thing. After having a few good times together, they drift apart. I realize this part sounds like any typical love story, but I promise you if you read it, you will fall in love. 

          The wedding approaches and they are still not on speaking terms, even though he's the best man and she's the maid of honor. That's all I'm going to say because if I say anything else, the book is ruined. Let's just say that Kate maybe starts to believe in family and possibly even love.

           I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves to read love stories. This book was so frustrating to read, but in a good way. Things with them were going so good, but then they take a turn for the worse. It left me constantly wanting to read more and more, making it nearly impossible to put the book down. At a few parts I even cried, some happy tears and some sad. You won't regret reading this book. That's all for this blog, I hope you guys enjoyed it!
